Most all science is done by the 5% of NASA's budget that does unmanned science. Among the many space telescopes are those for Gamma, UV, and X-rays rays (Swift), light (Hubble, Kepler, and NEOSSat), Corona Mass discharges (Stereo A and B), short wave Infrared (Webb), particle detection (AMS), gravity waves, sun observation and comet detection (SOHO), and microwaves. Nothing in space is done for radio waves or terahertz waves.
Hubble is simply the Hollywood star of so many science telescopes and other observation hardware - that does most of NASA's science for little money.

Hubble gives us cool pictures that keep the public interested in space.

We need Hubble. Since light pollution means we can no longer see stars from our backyard.
