I’d say circa.. 2017? Been here, there, ended up back in San Diego, ditched the fire-EMS career for remote healthcare IT project management, grad school, bought first house, lost a few people to Covid and other stuff, became an uncle a couple times over, that about sums it up!

Oh shit, that's a long time. quite a bit happened. Most of it crap. but hey, life.. ya know. That's quite the career change -one would think firefighters are also in demand there atm?

Most of the folks I know who have quit EMT jobs did it because they were overworked and the pay was shit.

I was doing summer seasonal wildfire out of state, private EMS in the off season. Wasn’t really sustainable and net pay was shit. Now I work from home full time and have much better work-life balance (plus the knees are happier).
