I discovered a large Census document that detailed the US population by race from 1790 to 1990.
They had it broken down nationally, by 5 areas, 9 regions and by each state.
I was surprised Delaware is part of the South and mid-Atlantic is NY, NJ, and PA.
I chose points every 50 years because I didn't want 177 pages too.
In the national population what the hell is "other"? They walk among us.
I was surprised that the value of the average slave was lower than I expected... still adds up to Billions though.

I watched a Nova from 2015 last night talking about North America.Lots of geology related to human occupation. Somehow they were able to talk about played out tobacco soils and the push West without mentioning human slavery. It was pretty jarring.

Aso not mentioned were many deaths created by tobacco. Or userful purposes of tobacco. Instead it remained discussing the topic. geology.

The thing that tickles me is Lincoln had no intention of ending slavery as it would be a political minefield.
But the south was hearing a lot of grumbling in the north and some other countries were walking away from it.
They saw big trouble ahead and tried to head it off by forming their own country.
As the war escalated it was soon apparent they weren't going to walk away and say leave us alone but kick ass and take names to insure success.
Abe said Oh Yeah, well Fuck-emancipation-proclamation-You. It didn't free all slaves only the ones in rebel states.
That meant if they didn't win they lost slavery, no negotiation.
And it wasn't slavery is illegal now so you have to sell your slaves.
Oh no, it meant $3 Billion poof gone. Plus nobody to do the work or have unlimited sex with.
It was a very very bloody war.
