When you get into the season you may find you have to cut the whole lawn every week or it will get too high and bog the mower.. A goat or two would relieve you of the drudgery.

Re: Adventures of Home Ownership

@monster - possible option with black friday.  I have to keep an eye out.  The problem is that I live in the south, so mowing season lasts longer than up north

@Bruce - I can't math.  I looked at the Ego riding mower.  It's actually not in stock anywhere.

Tasks completed this week!

1. Finished the Sunroom floor, but still need to arrange the furniture
2. Finished the shelf liner in the kitchen, but still need to unload a small part of my stuff (basically stuff I don't use often that's going on the very top shelf that I can't reach without a tall step stool
3. Got a mailbox and applied the sticker with my last name and address
4. Finished unpacking the "bathroom" stuff that lives in the hall now.
5. Had a chimney inspector/cleaner come by to get the fireplace ready (needs some work, of course.  But if I do this now, I can save myself 3-5 thousand dollars in different repairs).
6. Exploring a different option for the attic insulation (already saved $600) and duct fixes (they're coming on Monday to check it out)
7. Finished the priming in the laundry room (and decided to put a metal shelf in there.  I may still see if I can build a fold down table to fold clothes on)
8. Installed a shelf in the master bath for my shit.  Need to install the other one, but I think I might do it in the other corner
9. Looked closer and it's not just plywood in the hall bathroom behind the plumbing......it's also the back of a desk they used in place of a vanity
10. Not sure if I mentioned it, but my friend was able to put the medicine cabinet in the master bath for me, so I have at least SOME storage there

My plans for this weekend is to get some shit sealed/painted, but the weather may not cooperate.  I need to come up with another list of tasks if it rains.....

Alas, those are too far away :/  I need to see if I can find the card of the guy the fence person recommended for single cuts.

dude, I scored a "Black Friday" deal on Monday (1st Nov).  Thanksgiving season lasts longer everywhere these days ;).  Jeans for Adult but very petite son -only one brand fits .... had been internet researching the replacement when it was discoed.....Google spy gave me a pop up on-day-only BF sale for $10/pr.  I bought 4.

Lowes and Home Despot have done their BF deals  starting early November for several years now.....

Re: Adventures of Home Ownership

@monster - that is true.  I'm keeping an eye out

I have to decide which paint to use in the living rooms, but it's tough.  I like better in the sun and the other better in the shade.  Stupid.

Today I started staining/sealing the fence.  I got a little less than half the fence done with one gallon.  So, I'll buy 2 more gallons and finish it up.  I think it took like 3.5 hours?  I didn't look at the clock when I started.  It looks SO much better now and I liked the way it looked before!!

I cleaned up the sunroom some.  I don't think that this is going to be the final configuration, but I don't feel like moving furniture today (see 3.5 hours of staining).  I have more curtains that I need to take down in the apartment that will go in the room.  And I have to figure something to do with the dining chairs.  I want to repurpose them, but can't figure anything out

Reminder of the before

And now

From the outside door in.

Re: Adventures of Home Ownership

@monster - thanks!

@Bruce - it's a storage room.  This used to be the carport and they usually have some kind of storage room.  I'm still deciding what to put in it.  It's where the master water switch and the electrical panel is, so I need to make sure those are still accessible.  Right now, it holds all the left over flooring and the paint supplies.  Not sure it's the best place for the paint because it's basically an outdoor room with a window that bakes EVERYTHING.  Plus it has a grody wooden table that the water softener sat on and apparently deposited salt.  I need to clean or dismantle that.

The New York Times claims there is a loosely affiliated group of people who want this...

They'll pay big bucks for used tiles that are rare limited edition colors,
Barf bags are optional.

I hate that I know it takes approx 3.5 hours to empty a gallon of stain/sealant on my wood fence.

Re: Adventures of Home Ownership

You mean when you open a new gallon you have 3.5 hours of labor ahead? The lids can go back on, but I'm with you, at least finish the gallon if not the job unless it starts to rain or something.

It might sound trite but try to enjoy the process. This is coming from someone who often and wrongly isn't enjoying what he's doing.

Re: Adventures of Home Ownership

@Bruce - yep.  I know that you can stop, but it's SO MUCH to do, that I try to do as much at one time.  Plus, it's less clean up :D

@griff - it's not too bad.  I just got a bunch of bug bites this time because I'm half in the brush.  It's just sore and tedious work.  Next year, I'll have the sprayer for the job.
