Spaceship landing

Well, Artemis II is back from the moon (or nearby anyway).
It seems to me that there were better choreographed crew recoveries in the past. 
I think there was one technique where the whole capsule was winched onboard a special ship and the humans stepped out on to the deck.
Yesterday had a bit of Keystone Cops feel to it, with the astronauts at one point sitting on the gunwale of an inflatable craft bouncing in the swells waiting for a chopper ride.
Seemed a clumsy end to an expensive recap of what became nearly routine fifty years ago.

They probably didn’t want to open the capsule’s hatch aboard a ship after those toilet malfunctions. Pee-ew! Let those astronauts air out before they even get on the helicopter.
