Blue Ice

This picture is one of a series Mark J Thomas took as the ship he was on headed to Antarctica spotted this extremely rare iceberg.
At the request of the scientists on board  the Captain circled the berg once before moving on.
He says the photograph has not been cropped or enhanced in any way. The ice has been sculpted by wind and waves.
The lower part where the waves have washed it looks very smooth and  slick. How did the Penguins climb that?
You can read his description at https://www.blueiceberg.com/stories/blueice/

What is this "film," he speaks of?

Re: Blue Ice

The copyright is 2010 so it was before that and pros were still using film in many cases. Some still are.
