There are these comforting little phrases that help explain why something is a certain way-- with everything we have to keep track of it's a relief to consider something to have a known cause. Then they sort of worm their way into common use and before long, otherwise reasonable people are heard saying things like, "everyone is offended by everything these days"

After seven days, about 100 miles south of the Azores, a fire of almost half a $billion of cars, has apparently extinguished on upper decks. Due to no more flammable materials. A salvage crew finally boarded that ship today to attach a tow rope.

A boarding crew failed to attach towing ropes apparently due to rough seas. Maybe because more fire was discovered on the Felicity Ace.
Bear, a fire fighting ship, left Rotterdam on 17 Feb. Arrived at Felicity Ace yesterday. Also on scene are maybe 5 tugboats also with fire fighting abilities.
Felicity Ace has now drifted father from and now south west of the Azores. Pictures show gaping holes burned out on its port side.

Never doing anything as long as you could theoretically (but don't actually plan to) do something better with that money, isn't a good plan either.
True, but don't you think there are better things to do with the $50,000 right now. I'm pretty sure they could come up with a list of immediate needs/causes, that aren't as showboat as this stupid rock but would actually do some good.
I don't have any strong feelings about the rock in particular (and I'm really not in any position to in any sense), but arguments like "nobody I know thought X was racist years ago" and "we should ignore X as long as Y exists" are used across the board.on many issues, and are a pet peeve of mine.
I understand what you're saying, and I've seen it often, don't take a small step because we're looking for a giant leap.
However when they say too many deer are getting hit by cars, and I say too many birds are crashing into tall buildings, it doesn't negate the deer problem and both points are valid. Neither is an excuse to abandon trying to fix the other. Actually there is often a root cause to to seemingly unrelated stuff. That root cause can be quite invisible to someone beating the drum for the deer or the birds.

Snakes should be limited to where they are safer - for me. On a plane.

All three snakes were alive after a year? Must have been some piss poor wine.

Did not know anyone still made four wheel steering.
Meanwhile the Ever Forever has been stuck in a Baltimore shipping channel for many weeks now. Same company that blocked the Suez canal. Different ship.

Stupid, spend $50,000 to move a rock because it was called niggerhead rock in a magazine 97 fucking years ago?
Also, what's with the N*****head. Do they think black people aren't smart enough to know what that means?
Black people aren't aware of racial slurs? Offensive terms can't be printed in historical context about them?.
And all this at a University where intelligent people are supposed to be concentrated.
Back in the day you had to work to offend the whipper snappers on the lawn.
A friend of mine was fired from a jobsite because the homeowner overheard him use the word "niggardly" and was affronted that a mere tradesman had a bigger vocabulary than her. Or she thought he was being racist.

Makes you wonder how folks so dumb can collect enough nuts to hire the knowledgeable.

I suspect many reading this do not know a definition of the word "niggardly".. Leading to confusion as to the point.
