Why would someone produce a doll modeled on a miniature person?
That'd just be silly...

I told you why. To make that 15 foot statue look big.

Fisher Island, eh?
Never heard of it, so I did some wwwebbing.
I'll bet there may be more excess somewhere, but they have managed to keep it secret.
I think I'll go back to never having heard of it.

Australia may be bigger, but I can see the moon.

China's a big country with a variety of terrain closed off to tourists for much of history.
Because of that there is a lot of stuff few have seen.

When I was a kid, I loved castle ruins and other ruins, but now that I've had more life experiences, I look at that ruin in Ireland and feel a little sad. That wasn't that long ago, and I have known people who were alive then. I imagine it was a beautiful building, and now it's just ruins because of some stupid politics. I think part of it might be because I've seen cool places destroyed. Chapman's Mill, about 45 minutes drive from me was a historic old mill until some drunk teenagers burned it down a decade or two ago. And now it's historic old ruins.
I feel like to enjoy ruins, you need to disassociate yourself from the frame of reference that it was once an actual vibrant place. Maybe give it another hundred years.

The politics were maybe even stupider than you'd think. The Moore's appear to have been Irish patriots but not patriotic enough for the extremists of the times. I know it was complicated but these were not typical landlords. I think about the self-styled rebels we have, aping patriotism, working to break our politics, and believing a replacement authoritarian system would be better for them.
