Just say die ya bunch of wusses, leave that perfectly good and very useful word alone. Or at least just say "pass away" so we word nerds can distinguish.

He passed. What? a kidney stone? Wind? A bus? He didn't like the offer?

and all the other verbal alternatives for death. I'm first to love a good euphemism but this is ridiculous. Everyone dies. Verbiage doesn't make it any easier or less final.

A friend was taking exams to go to med school and I made a tiny stethoscope as a decoration as we wished her good luck and everyone loved it. I rescued it and said I'm keeping it for when the passes. Horrified silence. The exams, you idiots.

My next door neighbor died and his daughter posting something so inscrutable in the neighborhood facebook group, people thought he'd recovered and was maybe being ordained as a minister

I dislike it when people describe their pets' death as "crossing the rainbow bridge." Always makes me think the dog came out as gay.
