It was easier to zoom in on the old board.
These graphs are a little hard to read.

They tell me Africa is big in the future, not only land mass but population and influence.
Maybe that's why China is making such a big investment.

There's a great book by Hans Rosling called "Factfulness" that is largely about this exact misperception--basically people everywhere are stuck in the 60s when it comes to their beliefs about the actual state (and future) of poverty in the world. It's basically a longer version of the TED talks he gave for years before his death a few years ago.

Or we can dispose of the right wing extremists excuses and cite the so many others that are more relevant. Corruption, leaders who promote hate, resulting in unstable governments (since free markets do not work well without responsible regulations), wars, and a badly distorted gini index.
Meanwhile Africa has come a long way. An Economist reported took a trip from S Africa to Egypt on the same path he took a decade or two ago. Complete difference. The path was replaced with paved roads the entire distance.

A couple charts on who people spend their time with and how much alone.
I'm not sure I trust them because the same group had another one showing by country the avg minutes per day spent in paid work, sleeping, unpaid work, watching TV, etc. But it was tabulated from people who voluntarily self logged time sheets. That has no bearing on the real world, they had Americans sleeping over 8 hrs a night.
But for what it's worth...

I had a small bear walk by my living room window a few months ago. (He wasn't there again today.)
I hate to say it, but if it had been a grizzly I might have done more than watch it.

Interesting--hotter and wetter. I wonder if that's all from increased storms, i.e. short-term flooding/snow drifts that doesn't help plant life. A wet season and a dry season.

I wonder what the impact on reforestation will be? The North East has been reforesting rapidly as farms go out of business. This actually creates a moisture feedback loop. As things warm and wet different trees will have the advantage. I heard somewhere that the Sugar Maple is no longer recommended for planting in PA due to climate changes.

74% of the citrus crop has been lost due to a bacteria infection. No problem. Soon those Virginia and Pennsylvania farms can grow our oranges.

Pretty sure wildfires are a hoax perpetrated by Deep Staters.

ROAD TRIP!! Damn, this picture is 12 " square, well 12" wide and 11.958" high to be exact.
I upload it to freeimage.host and it gives me the link for BB full image.
But when it shows here it's smaller, so I copied it and it's only 7" by 7"
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

We'll try this, a report on sports attendance vs TV viewing of sports in 2005.
It's 11" by 8,4". I downloaded the posted image and it's 6.944" by 5.292"
