Sounds like very limited flight time? Also looks like a blast to fly!

Regenerative power dives?
Sounds like a specially prepared plane to set records while exploring the limits of current tech.
A different design to set distance and time records, then combine the two balanced for the job at hand.
No icing carbs which has always been a bugaboo..

Re: With The Power of 7500 Phones

I didn't see the flight time.
Seems like you would see that thing zip by and might think you'd gone deaf.
Part of the second link has more noise than I expected.

By definition noise is moving air and props move a lot of it.

Re: With The Power of 7500 Phones

The RR plane is a beauty, but it makes a surprising amount of (prop) noise on takeoff (vid 2);
I looked for some tapes of P51 takoffs; easy to find, LOTS of noise and a noticeable similarity between the two craft we're talking about.
In my searching I came across the tape below and realized how much I miss the posts by our member pilot of some cross country charters.  Forgot his name and I fear he fell off the wagon.
This is just some flying fluff about a seriously unwinding altimeter in a well-flown jump plane on its way back to one crappy field.:  You can feel your ears pop.
