    Unfortunate names

    In my local news this morning, a teeny tiny park is being renamed after Mr. Krapohl. I cringed as much as I used to seeing all the signs at election time until I read on.  Fortunately it seems the bureaucracy wasn't blind and they will be using his first name.

    I have recently been dealing with an escape of water claim for a policyholder by the name of Flood. 


    * I have never come across this surname but in the time I have been in this job Ihave encountered it several times.

    Facebook just suggested a friend for me.... I do know her (vaguely) but only by her married name.  This expansion (or not) is.... unfortunate?...

    Oh dear.

    When my niece was born and named Orla, beest (among others) pointed out that might be a tough name to take through high school.  It only took a couple of years before I accidentally transposed the last two letters when chatting with my sister online.  I was sharply corrected.

    this week I may have encountered a real person called Oral.  Fortunately not face to face.  Also, their middle name could have been Dee.  More unfortunately, I am now in a more professional setting where I can't enjoy such things so openly.  I've heard you can bust vertebrae holding in sneezes and such.  I was a little worried for my safety, but all seems well, although my lower back is more crunchy than normal.

    In today's Notable Deaths over at Wikipedia there two unfortunate names:

    Claude Peter & Bernard Bigot

    And yesterday I came across the name Dick Bong.

    Major Dick Bong was America's top flying ace of WWII.  He shot down 40 Japanese aircraft with the P-38 Lightning.

    ...has several commemorative monuments named in his honor around the world, including an airport, two bridges, a theater, a veterans historical center, a recreation area, a neighborhood terrace, and several avenues and streets, including the street leading to the National Museum of the United States Air Force in [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dayton,_Ohio]Dayton, Ohio[/url].

    Apparently WWII Japanese fighter pilots didn't know how hit a Bong.

    In a small town in Tennessee, Greenbrier, I think, there is a realtor with the somewhat enviable (maybe not) name of Herb Lord.
