By way of explanation for the curious Dwellar, I'd asked Bruce if he could point me in the direction of that image.

I was prompted to do so because I noticed, in the windows of my own car, the outlines of the suction pads used to handle the glass during the manufacturing process.
I pointed these out to a neighbour and mentioned the pic I'd seen.
I'll send it on to him just as soon as I can get to my PC.
Posting on my iPad due to large dog fast asleep on my lap!

We just noticed a similar thing on our kitchen cabinets.  A good 20 years after they had been installed, we now notice that if the humidity levels are just right, or something like that, you can see the marks on the surface of the finish from plastic strapping that held the doors closed when the cabinets came in their original boxes.

20 years ago!  We haven't scrubbed the cabinets with harsh chemicals, but they have been wiped down and/or washed numerous times over the years.  Very weird.
