Here I am standing next to the biggest piston I've ever met.

That's a serious piston! What's it out of?

out of.. place?
I'm not sure. It's been in front of this building in Ballard as long as I've known. Ballard being the sleepy fishing community it used to be, has a major maritime presence and tradition. My guess it is out of a monster marine diesel of some gargantuan variety.

Griff, the tractor is running 2500 RPM and the PTO says 500. Is that 5:1 a set ratio or variable?

RF-a couple of weeks ago. Outdoor festival, I was really laying into those cymbals.. check out the cave-man grip on my right hand, must have been squeezing out the last bit of grip strength here. The stage manager said the whole drum riser was wobbling to the point of maybe collapsing. I don't get to play with full force very often, but this was a big sound system with loud stage monitors, so I went for it.

Cool! Is this a regular band you play with these days, or was it a piecemeal gig?

Awesome man!

Looks like Chained Melody.

Reminds me...
Unrelated random fact:
Unchained Melody was written for a prison movie.
Kinda changes the feel of that one, don't it?

Thanks, everybody.
Clod, it's a cool local band that I've been doing gigs with for a few years and the only band I've really kept up with, because we connect so well musically and personality-wise.
For the record, I was fully sopt, and-- I'm not a giant. That's a tiny drum kit that was set up and mic'd so each act wouldn't have to load in drums.

Scamplt? Sopt?
