Twisted Trees

This tree is certainly an extreme. But I saw trees it Washington state traveling from Centralia over the mountains to the interior that had been damaged and lost some bark. They clearly showed they had been twisted, probably by the wind through the passes. Nothing this crazy though. I was told the branches grow for maximum Sun and become sails constantly being pushed by the wind. When the tree is twisted far enough the tree will grow new branches for more Sun and it starts again. I don't know if that's true but sounded possible.

This tree is only good for entertaining tourists and firewood, not lumber.

A snake carving might be appropriate.
