Real Space Shuttle

X-37B just returned from over 900 days in orbit.  It demonstrates what should be doing almost ALL space exploration - unmanned and robotic research.  It is a space shuttle that does good for a long list of reasons.

The original Space Shuttle was designed by a commission under VP Spiro Agnew (Nixon).  So it was screwed from the beginning.  They decided to make decisions using cost controls and a political agenda.  So then entire shuttle would be built without testing. Then the entire system would be tested as a completed unit.  Anyone with basic knowledge knows that was stupid.  But then it was not done for the advancement of mankind.

A space plane, that was suppose to fly every three weeks, could not fly again until all its engines were removed and completely rebuilt.  A trophy to a business school mentality that also wanted it in time for the greater glory of Nixon.

When that screwed up mess was finally eliminated, the George Jr administration (also with a business school mentality)  decided to build the Constellation, Ares, and Orion using a same 'get it done faster' lie.  So again, then entire thing was to be built without testing.  For the greater glory of that administration.  It, of course, was another boondoggle.  So screwed up (because 85% of all problems are directly traceable to that administration) that Obama killed it - rightly so.  But then extremists (Shelby of AL, et al) revived it.

Meanwhile Elon Musk and others (encourage by Obama) started development of space vehicles almost ten years after a scum bag Orion, Ares, and Constellation were started.  How many rockets have SpaceX successfully launched?

On Nov 14, the Artemis (the new name for garbage) will again attempt a 1st launch.  How many decades after George Jr's extremists created that disaster?  They keep trying to launch it.  Finally had to take it off the pad to fix it but again - because it was designed by an MBA mentality.

X-37B was designed by engineers.  So it does not stupidly put humans into space.  One can learn from NASA.  Almost all research by NASA is done in a less than 10% of its budget that puts no humans in space.  X-37B does research - rather than enrich MBAs for the greater glory of extremist politicians.  X-37B demonstrates what moderates do when only the product matters.  900 days in space without failure.  And no MBAs launching seven astronauts to their death - when all engineers said it was unsafe.

Artemis is suppose to send men back to the moon.  But is so screwed up that it cannot even carry a payload of the 1960s Saturn V.  So SpaceX will deliver the Starship HLS to the moon on a Falcon 9.  Then astronauts, launched by a disastrous Artemis / Orion vehicle will transfer to a Spacex delivered lunar lander.

Artemis was that badly designed; is inferior to Saturn V; uses much obsolete technology.  It also costs massively more to launch.  Another tribute to extremists who wanted space travel to promote themselves - not science.

Maybe they can finally get that system, originally designed in early 2000s, to finally work.  Without having to take it back to the assembly building and rebuild it again.

Intelligent men know why various components are tested separately before becoming part of a larger system.

Re: Real Space Shuttle

I read another opinion this morning...

"Question... what's the point of a "space force" that doesn't have a single astronaut?
Utter boondoggle waste of money to prop up useless corporate contractors..   one of it's  "experiment was designed to study the long-term effects of space radiation on seeds, in order to explore crop production and "the establishment of permanently inhabited bases in space."
So... billions of dollars wasted on seeing if seeds can grow on Mars, or the Moon? Yeah, they can't.
How do I know? No damn water to grow plants. Ask any farmer, it takes a lot of water, and the cost per pound of getting water to a farm/hydroponic installation on a spaceship, etc, is what, 10,000 dollars per pound?  That's just effing stupid. We already know humans are not going to survive long term in space, or on another planetoid thing (moon, planet, asteroid, whatever), just ask NASA, they already have figured that out.
How about they spend those billions fixing the damn roads, bridges, etc. Or making a high speed train around the USA so we don't have to use airliners anymore? "

My question is if the government tells you that flight was to test seeds, does that mean they were testing seeds? Only testing seeds?  At only 17,426 mph, in Low Earth orbit, could it be watching Putin, or XI, or topless girls on the Riviera?

Freedom is just another word for nothin' left to lose.

Re: Real Space Shuttle

Space Force is a laugh, I thought the Air Force took care of space.

I Love my country, I fear the government.

Re: Real Space Shuttle

Air force was also a laugh.  Only the Army and Navy flew all planes.  There was no Air Force in WWI or WWII.

Meanwhile, third time was the charm.

Re: Real Space Shuttle

Nobody goes near the base of a fully fueled rocket ready to launch. But then some people know they are expendable.  NASA's Daring Red Crew
