Re: Less Than Four Wheels

That little fender is to keep you from using the tire as an armrest.

I'm not sure how this thing steers, the only thing I can think of it changes the angle of the track a couple degrees and eventually changes direction unless you're going fast enough on smooth enough ground to lean it over.

Executioner is aptly named.

That shielded chain is gliding by my right femoral artery, lubricated by motor oil, tears, and the remains of my bladder.  Just before I go out is a spray of crimson glory.

Terrible beauty.

I don't think those tires had much grip, racing that thing could be hazardous to your health.
But at 19 you're still immortal.

I just put fresh tires and a new Shimano 12 speed cassette and chain on the Polygon. Two wheel season starts tomorrow morning. I delivered an old Cannondale to my youngest Uncle this afternoon so he can ride with his older Grandson, the wheel keeps turning.

Two wheel season has a ... start?

come on... inclement conditions are directly proportional to inadequate preparation.

Plus, you're waterproof--you bathe, don't you?  and once you're up to speed you maintain your core temp by maintaining your cadence.

LET'S RIDE!

Re: Less Than Four Wheels

Depth of snow can be an issue. We have to be careful with our trails in mud season which... checks NWest weather... nevermind. Everything in its time for me.

Last week was our third annual graybeards mtb trip. 5 rides in 6 days 13000 feet of climbing according to my buddies Strava. Two days at George Washington National Forest in Virginia, two at Dupont State Forest North Carolina and one at Pisgah National Forest NC. Amazing luck with the weather, we got out early each day and only saw rain in the afternoons.

This is pain.

This is bike.

This is payoff.

I know it's not a *lot* of snow.  there's a depth, but it's not deep.  still cold though.

Re: Less Than Four Wheels

That is some kinda giant busted link. We generally get enough snow to shift to skiing. One vote towards moving North is maintaining a 4 season lifestyle in an era of climate disruption. That week of riding was way out on the extreme edge of what I can do. I found myself in soft pedal survival more than once.Typically I'm a 2 hours on Sunday and a ride or two under an hour during the week guy.

At the end of WW I the US Army tons of motorcycles in Europe because they were used and abused so not worth the cost to bring them back. A few survived and were restored...
