Today I saw a piece of mail for Shatrine. I googled. It's a real name. for more than one person.
Anything beginning "Shat" would be bad enough, but to also rhyme it with latrine????
Truly wonderful!

Is 'shat' a passed participle?

Wrench
Nutandbolt
Silicone
Bandsaw
Welder
.......
wait I already know a girl who's gone by "Wheels" for the ?10 years I've known her..... I don't know if it's her given name or not but I have never seen anything to the contrary

New surprising front runner for uncommon-common names this year is Gus. We've had three of them over the course of the summer.

That's really interesting. I'm expecting a Gus bump from Sweet Tooth but we're too early. I actually like the name.
BF Hammer
Crow Bar

Oh we have plenty of Gus-tiness here. Some are just Gus, Some are Augustus, some are August ..and I've seen an Argus but don't know that that one was shortened (yet)
Feminine form Gussette, gender-neutral Gusset?

... but then there was also a kid by the name of T-Rex. really. I know the T was an initial for something, but he never used it. He walked the stage at high school graduation as T-rex Smith (or whatever)
....so I may not live in the best place to truly judge name trends...

Wouldn't it be funny if they did vanity searches.

I mean, Google would always show search results for something else and ask them if they really wanted to search for that entry. How exasperating.

but google does that anyway........ sell out.....
me "best time to prune apple tree"
Google "did you mean best time to buy apple tree"
me: clicks search for best time to prune apple tree anyway"
Google: brings up a sponsored ad for apple tree saplings which has the word prune in the blurb somewhere. maybe

Google has completely gone to shit. When I was a boy, you could get search results.

OMFG ... swap all As for Is and all Is for As.....
I have encountered a person called Bish Silima
F'realz. Now I know I have a mind like a Welsh railway and the name is probably from an immigrant culture...... but if my name was a euphemism for wanking where I lived and worked I'd change it. never thought I's find a better one than Randy Dong, but........
and this one is an employee who I might have to interact with face-to-face in a couple of weeks. I hope beyond all hopes it is not pronounced as I would in English
