Tin Soldiers...

Are we really ready to start shooting kids again?

Re: Tin Soldiers...

Nawww, they’re not going to shoot kids, they’re just going to shoot the smartphones out of their hands.

Re: Tin Soldiers...

Ever wonder how fast your car goes? No speed traps if all the state troopers are at the demonstrations.  Have fun on the highways.

Re: Tin Soldiers...

Newsmax (for those outside North America, that is the new Fox News) is declaring riots and violence ongoing on American college campuses. Their pundits are even complaining that Biden has not called out the National Guard.

They know how dumb their believers are.  President does not call up a National Guard.  And peaceful 'rioter' do not need a military dictatorship that Trump has been calling for.

Amazing how students, who rightly criticize the Nazi Likud party, are somehow anti-Semitic.

They opened fire on demonstrators in Kent State.  Not one solder was even investigated by firing live rounds.  Some who were kiiled were even and only on their way to class.  But then right means right.

There is a serious shortage of moderates.

Re: Tin Soldiers...

There was no whoopsie.

For many government actions of this nature, there’s a short term goal and a long term goal (tactical vs strategic). The vast majority of Americans will only ever be cognizant of the obvious short term objectives of some politician making a statement even if proves not to have teeth. In the long term, all of those cited will have an arrest record. Even if they go through the trouble of having their records expunged (most won’t), that only applies to information released to the public under FOIA requests like background checks for employment. The information; however, is still legally retained by law enforcement and can be shared with other government agencies for security clearance purposes. Those arrested will never hold a security clearance and access level high enough to abuse the trust of appointment to a sensitive government position. No one has a right to a security clearance: it is a political instrument. They have been nullified in that respect.

Newsmax is hyping violence on college campuses.  Some pundits are also called for the National Guard.

Apparently the right wing anti-Americans do not know what actual violent demonstrations look like.  When (and we now know) those actually may have averted a nuclear war (by Nixon).

Right wing loved wasting Americans and Vietnamese in a lie.  Amazing how the right wing now loves ethnic cleansing by enemies of mankind - Likud.

Extremists said it was all good.  Protecting soldiers who fired live rounds at protecting students and other students only going to class.

Ironic that an extremist would cite the story of "Peace on Earth" while approving of violence such as 6 January.  As if it was a good thing.

Ironic how police are arresting student who are only demonstrating for peace in Gaza.  What has changed?  The people who say that is good do not even understand Kent State.  Or Vietnam.  Those who do not learn the lessons from history are doomed to repeat it.

Smothers Brothers were immediately driven off the air (a top ten TV show) because they told the truth about Vietnam.  Sonny and Cher were saying same - just not as aggressively.

Re: Tin Soldiers...

Brown University decided to act as moderates.  Also called patriotic Americans.  They negotiated with student rather than use right wing extremist violence (as Mayor Daley did in Chicago).  Brown agreed to put students demands before their board.  That agreement ended confrontation.

President of Columbia apparently fears another right wing tongue lasting from the dumb Congresswoman Green.  Columbia even threw the negotiator, representing students in Columbia, off campus.  And may have him deported.  No different from (but less violent than) Kent State.

Taliban did something similar to Iranian negotiators.  Who went to Afghanistan to reduce confrontation.  Iran got back seven bodies missing heads.  OK.  Even righteous (right wing) administrators in American are not as violent.  But a credible negotiator does not do harm to their counter parties.

Apparently even that simple concept it too difficult for a righteous president in Columbia University.  Who cannot even learn from Brown University.  Cannot even admit stupidity by right wing American extremism (support for fascist Likud) makes no sense.

Columbia's solution to student demands?  Harm the student's prime negotiator.  Terminate all peaceful dicussions.  Using Mayor Daley violence (or Donald Trump military violence in Lafayette Square to hold a Bilbe that he actually has contempt for), ask if Kent State also solved problems.

Only moderates are patriots - negotiate.

When do tents on a campus lawn, put up by student legally on campus,  create a felony and justify violence?  Where is Ghandi and Martin Luther King when we need them?  The president of Columbia would also have them arrested.

Re: Tin Soldiers...

Explain what part of a large picture was too complicated.  What lesson from history was not learned?

For example, and I have been saying this for decades.  Moderates are the patriots.  Moderates learn facts long before making a conclusion.   Why is that difficult?  An honest reply would discuss that rather than just post wild speculation.

So you think Brown University did something bad?  A classic example of extremist rhetoric.  Characterized by no supporting fact and no logic.  Well it was seven paragraph.  Maybe so long that you forget it was there.

We have just seen what fascist supporters of Likud do.  Physically attack peaceful demonstrators in UCLA.  Same people who (apparently) also endorse ethnic cleansing in Gaza.  Rather than post emotions, defend their actions.
