The link to the fest is amazing, except I think it might take weeks to fully explore it.
I knew several guys from Somerville in the Army.

Kirk Israel plays in that every year.

Who's Kirk Israel?
A guy who plays the porchfest every year.

Kirk lives in Somerville and belongs to JP Honk.
They turn out for any celebration or happening in the Boston area.
They have a large membership and large repertoire so they can respond day or night to any happening even on short notice. 
I think this was taken at the Boston City Hall raising of the pride flag.   
 
The whole thing seems to be very loose but probably there's a few people in the center who work very hard at it.
