So there is a secret extension code built into Google that will allow you to do an old-style search, free from AI results, garbage "knowledge panels," and even ads. The code itself is &udm=14, but there is an extension for Firefox (called udm14) that automatically makes all your searches use this code. There may be similar tools for other browsers, I'm not sure.
You can also just search directly from this mirror site, which has it built in:
It doesn't solve the problem of SEO-optimizing that websites are doing to get to the top of results, but it massively improves the overall output. Highly recommended.
very good! thank you!
incidentally, the reason we can only get useful results from Reddit threads, is that every other major website is effectively firewalled behind an obfuscation layer that searches can't see into
if Reddit falls to the same disease, we'll be taking great leaps into the dark age of data rot
Rope Core memory is the way to go. you can still retrieve the programs from the Apollo mission, they're stored in a non-volatile, physical encoding that is impervious to electromagnetic interference

Apparently, you can achieve the same result by doing the standard Google search, and in the results page, you select "More" and then in the drop down menu, you select "Web". The script above and the 3rd party webpage are just a shortcut for these 2 clicks. But 2 clicks at the search results seems shorter to me than navigating to a bookmark to do a search through the special site. Either way, it's wonderful to have this option to get rid of the junk,

I added the Firefox extension.
