I have this visualization in my head of moderate Republicans moving into the Democratic Party making it more solidly center right. It's not a terrible place to be but then we have homeless populists on the left and right and a fair amount of liberal discontent within the party. Right now the GOP politicians are doubling down on the felon but that would seem to be a short game. Interesting times.

Every scenario that is feasible has a ruling party that is moving to the Right.
The biggest lie they ever told us was that the most popular politician in the country wasn't a good candidate because his policies, which by a line item analysis were what most people actually wanted, were too far Left, and for some reason, that's just bad.

I never underestimate Americans' love of novelty acts in politics. From Mayor Clint Eastwood to Congressman Sonny Bono, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and President Ronald Reagan, we have used novelty candidates to let professional politicians know that they don't have a corner on the market.
"I have this visualization in my head" that the Democrats try to create their own novelty act (fight fire with fire) at the Democratic National Convention by having Kamala pop out of a cake before making her speech. That would certainly garner Team Biden some excitement and put them well ahead;
UNLEEEEESSS,
At the Republican National Convention, they have Trump's wife Melania AND Stormy Daniels pop out of a cake TOGETHER. Well then, Biden might as well hang it up and retire. Kamala could run again for some government office as an experienced novelty act.

That sounds like a winner!
