How are we feeling about project 2025?

Heard one sap think it was a conspiracy theory. <-- yet more evidence to suggest we are pretty fucked as a country.
/s  Like we need more evidence.

WaPo today said tRump is trying to distance himself from project 25.
That makes sense because a written down plan  people are familiar with is not his style.
He would rather shoot from the hip with whatever lie comes to mind that will fit his rant of the moment.
A written plan means people will expect him to do what it says whether it benefits him personally or not.
That's a big no-no in Donnie's play book.

The best thing about Fat Donnie's administration was that he had no idea how government worked. Now he has foot soldiers who know exactly how to attack it and a corrupted Scotus. He's distancing himself because the polling on pro25 is horrific and it isn't his style to defend anything that isn't helpful to his personal interests. I saw a press release from the Heritage Foundation pretending to distance themselves from Orban. They are just now realizing their right wing fantasy isn't nearly as popular outside their bubble.

Heather Cox Richardson quoted extensively from Lincoln this morning. It strikes me that we're in a similar position today. The vast majority oppose the ideas of Project 2025 even while having broad differences on other policies.

In 1854, Lincoln answered Douglas: “Our Senator…objects that those who oppose him in this measure do not entirely agree with one another…. [H]e…says it is not quite fair to oppose him in this variety of ways. He should remember that he took us by surprise—astounded us—by this measure. We were thunderstruck and stunned; and we reeled and fell in utter confusion. But we rose each fighting, grasping whatever he could first reach—a scythe—a pitchfork—a chopping axe, or a butcher's cleaver. We struck in the direction of the sound; and we are rapidly closing in upon him. He must not think to divert us from our purpose, by showing us that our drill, our dress, and our weapons, are not entirely perfect and uniform. When the storm shall be past, he shall find us still Americans; no less devoted to the continued Union and prosperity of the country than heretofore.”

Alaska less than a sovereign state? I guess we really are going pre-Civil War here. The authors continue to pretend that the US isn't the largest oil producer on the planet in the age of climate change.

I think Project 2025 may be the best thing to happen for Dems this election.  It's mud on the wall that's doing a good job of sticking.

The corrupt Supreme Court may be the second best thing to happen to Dems.

It is immediately obvious that it was not written by sane men and women.

We can rationalize it away as "social media is driving engagement by emphasizing existential dread" but at the bottom of it, unless they're literally making things up, there are objectively some worrying things happening in the world. It's the dumbest timeline. We're ƒucking doomed.

It's too meta to be parsed by a group decision making method. We all know it, but a group of us can't react to it. Paralysis by analysis.

Actually, at the end of my workday yesterday, those 3 snipers were still up there.  I'm working from home today, maybe they are still there.  I felt really bad for them.

Crazy thing is, they are dressed in all-black tactical clothing.  Long pants. Long sleeves. I think they even had black caps on.  It's like 120 degrees on that roof, with no shade.  They need to have different uniforms if they are going to be sitting on rooftops.  Maybe it's all for theater and black stands out better, but those rifles looked real from a distance, so I don't think they were just for show.  They would be just as effective, maybe more so, if they were wearing white with sun hats.

There are various types of cooling vests that can be worn under uniforms and even under body armor. White clothing makes sense from a temperature regulation standpoint; but, even snipers can get shot by counter-snipers or someone who just gets in a lucky distance shot. Seeing one's comfy white uniform rapidly turning red can be a bit more distracting than just feeling some wetness. It also lets the opposition know that they scored a hit and are zeroed in for follow up shots. As for headgear, the narrow-brimmed baseball cap (patrol cap in the military) shades the eyes while staying in place fairly well. Wide-brimmed sun hats (military jungle/boonie hat) have a looser fit and can come off or be blown off more easily without a chinstrap which can become an irritating distraction during long periods of wear. Form follows function and their concerns are different from what most who haven't done a similar job might expect.

It's OK to aim at ears as long as you have them lined up... so it goes in one ear and out the other. Otherwise, you're doing it wrong.

And so again we have proven why everyone needs an AR15 assault rifle.  To shoot many times so that one might eventually hit an ear.  We also have the right to own and now need 155 mm howitzer.  Also essential for our protection - from ears.
