Hobbs!!!!!!!!!!!!! in the final

I didn't realize that each swimmer in a swimming event apparently has a judge at each end of the pool to look for disqualifying moves. That is a lot of judges.
Alex Walsh rolled too soon from back to front as she transitioned to breaststroke from back.
Damn. Who knew? What a disappointment.
And I guess that judge was waiting for her to finish the last two laps in second place knowing she was toast.

Sounds like several swimmers are getting sick after swimming in the Seine. Not sure whether protestors are contributing as suggested above (or even if they followed through on the threat when the politicians had their photo op), or if it's just the regular pollution they were trying to highlight, but several Olympians have had to drop out.

Yes, it's a lot but they reuse them for the next heat. :D
Even regular swim meets have at least 4 officials and they do watch for illegal strokes/turn etc As well as improper starts and finishes. They can't really interupt the race to dq someone though. At regular meets they raise their arm to indicate a dq but im sure the olympic system is fancier. At this level swimmers are likely to know what they did and are just hoping the ref missed it.

Seine swimming was not done for sane reasons. But then is was not done by someone who comes from where the work gets done. It was done for emotional reasons - that any bad management would condon.
To be safe, that $billion dollars should have been proven by a years testing. "I feel is it sane. One test said so. It must be true." Sounds just like Boeing's management. It did not crash on a first test flight. Then we simply cover up damning known facts. Insane River politics.

monster: You OK with Walsh's DQ?
Was her infraction intentional do you think? Does it make a difference?

So the Modern Pentathalon was really cool or at least geeky enough for me. They did all the events in one open arena in front of the Palace of Versailles. Setting aside the horse jumping, all the other events are things I've done at a lower level. My gut tells me I could hold my own in the one touch epee, but my gut is an oversized loudmouth.Every event was quirky, you were given a random horse, the run was combined with laser pistol, the pool was undersized, and the epee was one touch round robin plus a bonus round. Our boy Patton competed as an Olympian back in the day.

Patton and I were born in the same town with only 56 years and a whole bunch of money separating us.
Later he went into Armor, and I Infantry, again with different results.

The Pentathlon in 2028 Los Angeles, they are doing away with the horses. Going with obstacle racing instead so it can all be done at one location.

I guess a desert motorcycle race is out then?

A spinoff from the Olympics.
She winds up... and there's the pitch!
Hezly Rivera throws out the ceremonial first pitch before the start of the game between the Texas Rangers and the New York Yankees at Globe Life Field on Sept. 4, 2024 in Arlington, Texas. Rivera helped the women’s gymnastics team qualify for the Paris Olympics. While at the Rangers and Yankees game, Rivera proudly wore the gold medal she, along with Simone Biles, Suni Lee, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey, received after winning the team final.
