If you don't already have one, look into the lifetime senior pass for the National Parks.  I think it's only $70, and does not expire..

I have the lifetime military veteran’s pass.  It was free, as it should be for those who served to defend the turf. It’s been available for almost two years now.

New lifetime pass available for Military Veterans and Gold Star Families to access public lands
