The guy they got for the sidewalk shooting seemed real smart, then got dumb, keeping all the evidence including the gun.
His story looks to be fascinating, but what struck me was the open air perp walk after his arrest: Shades of Lee Harvey Oswald.

Yesterday, Reddit was comparing the photos and saying, "this isn't the same guy."
I think the fan fiction is, while the "guy caught in public with all the evidence in his possession" is being processed, the "real guy who did it" is using that misdirection to disappear.

He went from folk hero to unabomber psycho in like 12 hours.
I predict that it's going to come out that he's had an onset of psychosis in the last 6 months.

That impulse across society to view him as a hero, was a real thing. No matter how perceptions change over time, that happened.

That narrative change is being driven by prosecutors leaking info that doesn’t look good. The competing narrative about the shooters back injury and the CEO being sued and his abusive use of AI to deny payment still exists.

Funny, we were just discussing this is another topic.
It seems we've finally figured out how the imminent threat posed by AI is going to play out-- exactly how a 1980s dystopian film would have predicted.
The predatory class will be using physical drones to blow up people's bodies, and 'philosophical zombies' to blow up people's financial security.

True. And I've heard it said that security firms are scrambling to find enough staffing to put in place security for terrified CEOs across the country.
I've said in other threads that I am looking to position myself financially and otherwise to prepare for 2025, and in light of this incident, I'm more inclined to avoid broad index funds in the stock market that hold small amounts of stock for evil companies like UnitedHealthcare.
This site is my latest interest: weaponfreefunds.org
It doesn't address UnitedHealthcare but if you want to avoid supporting bomb makers, it's of interest.

That's a pretty rough take. I can't really argue with it though.

First AI came for the artists, but people who weren't artists didn't care.
Then AI came for the youtubers, but people who weren't youtubers didn't care.
Now AI is coming for your healthcare. Will people care about this??
Anyone who isn't EXTREMELY ALARMED about AI* is living in a ƒucking fantasy world.
*actually, we haven't invented general AI, it's the marketing term for "algorithms" now

Greatest danger from AI is that so many do not know how to separate liars from reailty. Liars only order us what to believe. AI would do the same thing. Insist that Saddam had WMDs. Since that is what so many tweets said.
AI, just like citizens who do not know how to separate liars from honesty, will suffer the same way. And then the so many, who also knew the election was stolen, will also believer everything that AI says.
Honest people always ignore podcasts, tweets, and other rabid sources of disinformation. Honesty only exists the the claim also comes with many paragraphs and relevant numbers that also say why. And then the hypothesis can be proven. Until then, moderates never believe hearsay of wild speculation. And know the fewer source that always confirm their reports three times over before making that claim.
Saddam's WMDs will always remain the classic example of how and why so many still refuse to learn how to learn. So many wait for the Central Committee (or an AI bot) to order them how to feel. Also called not learning how to, instead, think.
AI is the same danger that is also called podcasts, Infowars, and Fox News.
Another similar example of the threat is the MBA. Who, for example in Boeing, will kill people and have no regrets. Will simply lie about it for 20 years. Until we finally learn how bad things were getting. Also just as dangerous as AI that so many will automatically believe until it is too late.

Took Minifob to get his expired license renewed today. He was wearing a random Super Mario Bros. shirt that he's had for years, and we didn't even think about it, but the guy working at the DPS counter commented, "I like your shirt," and when Minifob just said, "Thanks," the guy persisted, "It's got Luigi on it."
Hundreds of thousands of Nintendo-branded clothing items featuring Luigi have been sold in the last couple of weeks. As the court case progresses, I honestly expect to see large protests, perhaps turning into riots, depending on how it's going.

New York state is considering creating a special hotline exclusively for CEOs to report perceived threats, CNN reported this morning. Nice little reminder of just how responsive government can be when it comes to corporate executives.
This is begging for snark.

Some of it probably went to CEOs trying to hide in plain sight by wearing Luigiflage (Luigi camouflage). It’s a technique.

I had an FAA registration number issued under the Exception for Limited Recreational Operations of Unmanned Aircraft (USC 44809). It costs $5 for 3 yrs. It covers all of the qualifying drones a person has.
I stopped renewing it when I got my stealth drone.

Are drones covered? I've been told they're the real problem.

Luigi Mangione has been charged with murder "as an act of terrorism" ...
Americans across the political spectrum agree/empathize with, or at least understand the motive behind his actions.
The state is defining his motive (the thing that millions of Americans do not have a negative view of) as terrorism.
