    why do people..

    ..who are four feet across, who are walking with both arms and legs sticking as far out to the side as possible, also have to walk RIGHT DOWN THE MIDDLE of the hallway?

    so they don't accidentally bash their knuckles against the walls?

    Their eyes are in front, so they think the hallway is empty.  Don't notice the crowd stuck behind them.
