Content on the Old Cellar

I heard that Undertoad [posted elsewhere that the old cellar is being overrun by Bots.  He will continue to host the site and leave the content there, but (understandably) will not upgrade the server can't cope any more, so if there's anything you regularly refer to, you might want to consider "rescuing" it now.

Re: Content on the Old Cellar

The only thing I would want to save is my first post, but that is long gone.

Re: Content on the Old Cellar

Maybe not. People forget about the Archives. I found Elspode’s first post for him there, tagged it, and I was still able to call it up today with a tag search even though it’s from 2002. There’s no general search engine in the Archives; so, it’s a manual hunt working from your join date of 12-07-2005. What do you remember about your 1st post that can help narrow down the search parameters?

The forum?
The thread title?
The date, was it the same day you registered or later?

If it can be found, we can take a screen shot of it like this for you to save:

I have no idea how to do this. I tried saving some pages but they just showed up as a folder full of jpegs and random gibberish.

Should’ve been good enough for those Dwellar NSFW threads.

"go full page" plugin for Chrome.  It saves a page to PDF. this is a good workaround for a small number of posts in a thread.  But forget about copying the whole site.
