Today I read an article that said AI actress Tilly Norwood and the “Talking Tilly” that does interviews are separate, powered by different tools.

According to the developers,  “Talking Tilly” is powered by a large language model, a “12-page system prompt that defines her personality, humour, and boundaries,” as well as a “knowledge base of up to 30 documents covering her world, her work, and her views.”

Talking Tilly is multilingual. That can cause mishaps. During one interview in English, she thought she heard a word in another language. She switched, mid-interview, from English to speaking Cantonese. Following the flow of conversations won’t be her only challenge.

Since today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day, I submitted, via messaging on her website, the ultimate challenge. I asked her to talk like a pirate, in her own voice, in her native language (English), and post a video clip of it on her website. We’ll see if her developers sail with it, or if they’re a bunch of landlubbers.
