The Killer Hornets that recently made it to the US raise hell with honey making bees in Asia. Scientists studying them in Vietnam said the Hornets locate a nest and chew away the opening until it's big enough for them to enter. Once in they decapitate the bees and eat the young, absolutely destroying the hive.
But recently it been discovered the bees will smear shit around the opening to deter the hornets chewing. They will use any shit they can find from any animal. They were pondering if that could be done here to protect commercial honey bees, but I don't think the hornets could chew into a wood hive like a wild bee built one.
