Simplest (for me) is to upload an image to post images.org (you don’t even have to have an account there), choose the resolution size (“for message boards”) and then click on the copy link button to the right of the long link text for “direct image”.
Then in here, create a post, click on the “picture” icon above the create post window and paste the link text in when asked.
Looks more complicated when written down ....

I have found that I can keep my pictures in my own google photos space and still post them here using the
[ img ] [ /img ]
tags. The trick is finding the url for the actual picture. I'm getting better. In google photos, click on the picture you want to post, right click on that picture and choose "open in another tab" and the url of *THAT* tab goes between the img tags. Done and dusted, or should I say, done and posted.

or click on the pic then just paste the url into the box....

it doesn't matter where the images are stored online, as long as you have the url for the image. In most cases, you can right-click on the image and select "copy image address" and bingo. Just have to retrain the beain from "hotlinking bad" to "hotlinking only way"
I was trying to embed a YouTube vid, and just gave up.
Can that be 'splained in a sentence or two?
