February 11th, 2021: Rivers of Gold

Taken by an astronaut on the international space station, NASA says the sparkling channels in the top right of this picture are (mostly illegal) gold-mining pits in Peru's Amazon Rainforest, illuminated by reflected sunlight.

That is one wiggly, braided son-of-a-gun river.
I thought rivers did that at their other end.

I can't decide if it's more reminiscent of an umbilical chord or a failed knitting project.
