What are you screaming?

The last few days I have mostly be screaming at the Unemployment Insurance people (out of their earshot).  And the cats, because no I fucking can't change the weather, why not try hibernation?

Re: What are you screaming?

If I absolutely have to attend a meeting, and the one who called the meeting isn't prepared, there will be screaming.

Re: What are you screaming?

I screamed FUCK!!! the other afternoon.  I had the back seat bottom out of CherryBomb trying to dry it out.  It was lying in the driveway, cuz the driveway was nice and warm.  I went around back for something and came back just in time to see Popdigr back across the seat bottom with his Jeep.  Both axles.

Wasn't his fault.  I put the thing in the driveway, behind his Jeep.  I came home that evening to Pop scrubbing my seat w/carpet cleaner, trying to get the tire tracks outta m'seat.

ETA:  The seat is molded on a wire frame.  It took me twenty minuteas to bend it back to some semblance of it's proper shape, and get the brackets to line back up.  A headache, but, no real harm done.

Oh believe me, Pop's good to go, he just hasn't had to look behind the vehicle for about 40 yrs now...Like I said, it was my fault for putting it back there.  I had it propped against the hitch.

Re: What are you screaming?

Maybe I am negligent, but I never walk around to look behind my vehicle in my driveway before I back out.  I can see the driveway from the front door as I walk to the car, but not the 3 feet or so immediately behind the car.  Angles are wrong for that.

When we had little kids, we were walking all around the car, getting them strapped in, so the area was checked, but now that there are no little kids, what could be back there?  A squirrel?  A cat?  Those will get out of the way.  We don't live in an age where toddlers wander around the neighborhood unsupervised.

Re: What are you screaming?

The company we use to validate and repair accidental damage to drains and underground services.

They have delegated authority to manage the claim entirely up to a certain value. But  if costs go above that value they have to seek cost approval from the claim owner and ownership of the claim stays with us - and we are supposed to step in if the claim goes off the rails or hits a point of contention.  Technically, we are supposed to redirect customer enquiries to the drainage co. in the first instance. But technically, we are also ultimately responsible for making sure the customer journey isn;t a total fuckfest .... despite having no access to their diary system for appts or any access to their portal. Sometimes they deign to remember to pop a note on our update system

So I have like 15 claims in my name that I am unable to manage, ultimately responsible for, getting called and emailed like 5 times a day by the same pissed off people whose lives are being upended by a company who cancel appointments without notice, show up unexpectedly, give conflicting messages to customers about what will or won't be covered and randomly close the claim down without informing the customer.

These claims are supposedly being fully managed by another company, but they take up about 30 % of my workday. By comparison - once meetings, specialist general categories of claim that dont sit in individual workbuckets like subsidence, training and development, are taken out, I have about 40% of my workday left for  the other 45 claims that I do have to manage entirely (up to and including project managing major restoration and repair)

I literally screamed on Thursday.

I work from home and had ended the call so the only person I troubled was Carrot .....but still.

Re: What are you screaming?

I wish I had never worked the elections in Detroit. I did it because it was needed, I would had done it for nothing, and it was an interesting experience, but they paid me -as a fucking contractor- and it's making my taxes unmanageable and of course I left it to the last minute to realize this. Guess I'm filing for an extension after all. It should not cost money to pay your fucking taxes

Re: What are you screaming?

no wai!   I just need to find some ruby slippers and click my heels together........ or something.  I wonder where amethyst shoes would get me?

I filed the fucking extension.  The USPS guy who was serving me was chatty while we waited for all the certified mail thingies to go through and said he used to do taxes and my conclusion about what I need to file was right -but that given I had to do that, I could also claim expenses for all the miles I drove. Bless his little polycotton uniform.   I will -won't save me anything because yeah, but fuckitfuckers.

Re: What are you screaming?

The most bizarre thing I figured out last night/this morning....  is that Michigan (like Federal) taxes Unemployment Insurance payments.   (Which for me are paid by Michigan).  Fine.  But.... seeing as I opted to withhold (PAYE-ish for Brits).... why did they only do that for Federal and not MI?   So I apparently owe them.  Also why at 10% for federal?  Did you just not get enough people following directions and decided to fuck us all?  I also learned that MI is waiving late fees for tax payments for people who received UI payment.  (i.e. you know you screwed up)  So all y'all can fucking wait til I get that $$ back from the feds that you shouldnae have given them.  Fuckers.

I used to think the sense of humour was the only thing I really missed, but i also miss not havnig to deal with this shit ...and the three health insurance piles o crap that cropped up today to add sparkle to the shine.
