If it sounds half as good as it looks it's a winner.

It makes music.

I've got a couple fiddly kinks to sort out, but hopefully it will be ready to present next weekend...

thanks!

Wiring is pretty much all thats left.  Having a couple fitment issues, but should sort them tonight or tomorrow.  Then set up, and test.  This build has been a challenge.  Tool failure, mistake repairs.... but I love the finish and the carve. I have another neck worth of that torrifeid maple.  Will have to do another soon.

How did you do the carve?  Just switch between multiple tools until you got what you wanted?  Power tools?  Files and rasps? Blades like spoke shaves and drawknives?

Cut the shape with the band saw....  Drew lines then used an angle grinder with a saburrtooth disc to hog out rough areas, then the fun part with a shinto rasp, spoke shave and micro planes.

I'm torn between the spoke shave and shinto rasp being my favorite tool.

Is the finish as nice as it looks in pictures? That is hot.

Those angle grinder carving tools scare me.  I've heard too many stories about the chain saw toothed ones.  I hadn't heard of Saburrtooth.  Quickly looking at their site, they look like they would be easier to control than the chainsaw ones and do less damage if they got away from you.

Yeah, pretty easy as long as you keep it tilted one way or the other.  And clamp your work down tight.
