You flash on something you want to make or bake.
Salivating you dig out the recipe and start rattling those pots and pans.
Whoa... you don't have everything the recipe calls for.
Don't feel like getting dressed and going to the bodega.
Maybe you can substitute?

I keep thinking that can't possible taste right but if you're cooking or baking it's a chemical thing... I guess.
But I'm sure a quarter cup of Pumpkin sunny side up ain't the same..

I'm betting these substitutions land like a ton of bricks.

I'm sure you're right since you can get most anything you're missing delivered these days,
Hell, even Amazon will bring it tomorrow.
That said, I was intrigued by the possibilities.
But since I'm not baking or even cooking for the most part, I chose to inflict it on the curious.
Bwahahaha!!

You can't put too much butter and eggs in a human body.

My oldest daughter is a food research scientist at Mississippi State University. She has tried similar substitutions in meal preps for us, But some results make me gag. Don't get me started on her project of using crickets to make jerky. It is intended as a protein source for third-world countries. I ate it with a smile, but I was subconsciously gagging while looking at the cricket leg that hadn't been ground up. Shudder.

I don't think I'd have any psychological issue eating crickets, but popcorn is already sort of touching the limit of things getting stuck in the teeth for me.
