I had no idea some of those were defunct.  I just hadn't seen them in a while.

They were all legal working labels owned by someone(s). They may have stopped because the owner died or quit. They may have been the victim of a bankruptcy or merger, or hostile takeover. There's a million and one reasons for a label to go dark but not dead, just mostly dead, They could be revived if ownership changes hands, or pangs of nostalgia. Hell they could reappear as decals for your hubcaps if Don Draper can figure out how to make a buck from it.
