Like your coffee, a pot on the stove......

* I'm a "survey specialist" now -we have to make these options available

Just like Commander Bond.

The motion generally starts counter-clockwise for a few turns, then goes clockwise for one turn, then two or three figure-eights through the middle. Then take it out and whack it on the edge of the container three times. (I sat here and did it with my hand in the air several times to be sure.)

I use Brownian motion.

Clodfobble's method is very similar to mine.  Except I don't whack it on the edge of the pot.  I'll slowly remove it from the pot and drips taper down to nothing.

I naturally stir clockwise, but when I'm dealing with something that REALLY needs to be stirred, I will throw in a little unclockwise....... and if it's a pot on the stove containing something with a tendency to catch on the bottom ....... it's open season like a squirrel on acid with a tree to run around (but thorough and complete)

In these days of intolerance and Federal storm troopers, can I be deported for doing it wrong?

Sure, but they would come up with another reason.

You mean they are actually first having a reason to deport people?  Almost 800 in Guantanamo because someone said they were evil.  All but something like 35 out of 800 were innocent.

Brownian motion.  I must be making a bomb.

I asked because I am very interested in left/right handedness and it occurred to me this might also be something affected by that (like spins and turns in skating)

I would expect a left handed person would spin clockwise.  Unless she went to Catholic school.  And then the nuns demanded she spin counter clockwise.  Because that is what right handed people must do.

I'm right handed and I stir clockwise.

You would never survive in Catholic school.
