I got frostbite this week.

I mean, I have had plenty of other hopefully-once-in-a-lifetime-if they-must-happen-at-all experiences .....but that was a surprise.

How about you?

I'm sorry.  Was your face exposed?  Cheeks get it? Fingers and toes also can be pretty vulnerable.

I hate feeling cold, and since moving from Maine to Virginia and adding 40 years to my age, I'm much less tolerant of cold.

Any chance the details might be useful to us?

Wonder if I will ever see the lakes freeze over again.  Have not seen it since 1979.  When one froze over 2 miles in all directions.  One can forget what winter really is.

Many ski slopes were in operation before Thanksgiving.

Frostbite -ends of my big toes running/walking in very powdery snow with holes in my shoes.  The air temp was ok -around freezing, but I guess the snow temp was still near the previous day's low (-15c).  When I got to the coffee shop after, I realized the snow had got into the holes and packed down.  I emptied it, but when I got home I found I had a bright white stripe down each toe where the snow had been.  I warmed them up gently, they looked fine, but by the evening a red blister had formed (now one one each)  I did go the Urgent Care in the end but the doc said they looked fine I was doing the right things and it was the equivalent of a second degree burn at worst.  However still officially frostbite, so item on unbucket list checked! :D  Also, running shoes retired.

Define cold.

Amazing how mild cold is somehow bitter.  For example, in November 1969 in the mid Atlantic:
High/low in Farenheit was 32/11, 32/25, 28/25, 26/14, 17/6, 30/20, and 30,25.  Many days before Thanksgiving.

And those temperatures were considered mild compared to the 1930s.

Back then (in both 1930s and 1960s), hard ice would form on lakes and streams.  Ice skating was possible most every day in winter.

Only Eskimos, Polar Bears, and Santa Claus  should  remain in Wisconsin.  Then summer in the North Pole.

Why do they call it Green Bay when it is (should be) so often white.
