I've made special efforts to observe at least 100 predicted meteor showers over 70 years.
I have had the unlucky experience of having those "events" surpass a normal night about 10 or 15 times.
One of the many reasons I disliked the Army was that it put me in triple canopy jungle in the middle of monsoon on 11/17/66 when the Leonids produced up to 40 meteors per second.

Which only proves again that a Leonid shower does not wash off sweat. What good is a shower that does not even make the grass grow? And yet somehow we are suppose to enjoy it?
