I had my cataracts removed over two ops, a year apart. Both ops  were totally painless, I was just aware of a bright light and an op that lasted what seemed no more than 10 minutes most. So I wouldn't worry at all about your forthcoming op.

After the first op, as I was already able to read close work without glasses and my new lens in the operated eye had significantly improved distant vision, come the second op the optometrist suggested I go for a close work lens in my remaining eye. I took up his suggestion and now have both excellent close and distant vision without the expense and inconvenience of having to wear glasses. Worth giving it some thought yourself if you have the time and opportunity to do so.

Rest of us are standing in line behind you.  And some do not even know it.  Are we blind to reality?
