Helmet lights, no NVGs! I suppose helmet lights can be used to freeze animals crossing your path in their tracks so you’ll have some road kill to take home.

Night vision goggles might be unwieldy for this use case. But considering the kit some of these guys roll with it might not be that far fetched.

Recent Shenanigans: The Black Fly Challenge
40 miles of gravel, sand, dirt and rocks. My buddies did well. I completed the task 😂

At 155th overall you weren’t a straggler. Congrats on the accomplishment.

This thing on? We bought a second hand canoe and paddled Union Falls Pond last weekend. We could see the reflection of car windows like a necklace on Whiteface but the pond was quiet. We saw couple loons and a bald eagle. My shoulder was a little tight from a spill I took on the ice and slime on Allen Mountain on Tuesday but a good time was had by all.

Around here they say the second happiest day of your life is the day you buy your boat, and the happiest day is when you sell it. But I think that probably doesn't apply to canoes.
Looks lovely!

Hopefully not a canoe saying. 😆 It was glassy smooth at times which made it easier to check out the loons. We could see the reflection of car windows in the 3 hour line going up Whiteface. We are so thankful to be in a place others will sit through such things for. The road will close soon and we’ll be early season Nordic skiing on the iced / snowed over pavement.

We peddled up Whiteface on the toll road yesterday and the walked to the top. It seems attitude is everything. Our group had a great time. We met an older guy on top who had been hit by a car a while ago. He had severe head and back injuries. He had walked the entire way on the hiking trail wearing prism glasses for balance and had a guide who was highly trained. He was so positive it was mind blowing. When we got back to the bikes there was a guy our age, very fit, pricey bike, whining about being in New York and how terrible it is, on the shoulder of Whiteface freaking mountain on a warm sunny day in November. He was on and on about how you can’t do anything in New York and he needed to move to Utah. Dude Utah’s great but you’re still gonna be you when you land there.
